Dementia Friendly Facility Consulting
Dementia friendly facilities are designed and operated with a strong focus on the needs of people with dementia and other memory-related conditions. The goal is to create a safe, engaging, and supportive environment, one that allows those with dementia to live with dignity and reduces distress as much as possible.
While such approaches are common in memory care facilities, other environments like assisted living facilities and nursing homes often have less dementia-focused training. This creates challenges for staff and residents, especially when the person with dementia is in distress.
As a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Angelica Herrera-Venson can work with and guide facility leadership to create a more person-centered dementia-friendly environment, one that is relevant to all stages of dementia progression.
Specific areas include:
- Assisting with the development of dementia-friendly programs and activities for residents.
- Helping facilities to address their current practices, including strengths and areas for improvement.
- Advising on how to connect with families, including the provision of educational resources and the creation of caregiver support groups.
- The creation of content or educational resources to inform staff members, families, or caregivers.
